Putting Baseline Controllers into Faux IO

When Baseline employees need to use a BaseStation 1000 or BaseStation 3200 controller for a demo, training, or testing, it is useful to put the controller into the Faux IO mode. In this mode, the controller responds to artificial input/output (IO) in order to simulate an actual working system.

BaseStation 1000 and Substation

1. Get the BaseStation 1000 Faux IO file from a member of the support team leadership or Tier 3. 
3. Put the file on a USB drive. 
4. Find the serial number of the BaseStation 1000 controller. Training controllers are serial # 1X00445.

Note: To find the serial number on the BaseStation 1000/Substation controller, press the System Setup button. Press the ò button to highlight Network Setup, and then press the OK button. Press the ò button to highlight BaseManager Info, and then press the OK button. The controller serial number displays on this screen.

1. Rename the Faux IO folder on the USB drive to match the controller’s serial number.
2. Insert the USB drive into the controller’s USB port. 
3. On the BaseStation 1000 controller, press the System Setup button.
4. Press the down arrow button to highlight System Settings. Press the PRG button, and then press the ò button to display the Test Settings option in the menu. 
5. Press the down arrow button to highlight Test Settings, and then press the OK button. The Test Settings screen displays.
6. Press the down arrow button to move to the Load field and highlight Run File, and then press OK. The field displays Running File while the controller reads the Faux IO file from the USB drive and transfers the data to the controller. When the file transfer is complete, a checkmark displays in the Faux IO field. 
7. Press the RUN button to return to the main BaseStation 1000 screen. You might notice that the statuses are incorrect or the devices seem to be missing. If this occurs, first use the Search & Assign options to set up all the devices from the Faux IO file. Then use the options under Test to reset the statuses. Finally, delete all old messages. 
8. For Fundamentals Certification class, clear out programming at System Set Up, Clear Program.

BaseStation 3200

1. Check the Two-Wire field at the top of the main BaseStation 3200 screen. If the field shows 0.84 amps, the controller is already in Faux IO mode, and you do not need to perform the rest of this procedure. Otherwise, continue with the procedure.
2. Create a backup of your current controller configuration either to a USB drive or to BaseManager.
3. Turn the dial to the Advanced position. 
4. Load the file at Advanced, Restore USB
5. Press the Next or Previous button to move to the System Settings option, and then press the Enter button.
6. Press the Previous button three times to highlight the box under the Serial Number. Training controllers are serial # 3K00005
7. Press and hold the – button, and then press the + button twice to display the Test Setup 1 screen. 
8. Press the Previous button to move to the Test Settings option, and then press the Enter button. The Test Setup 2 screen displays. Log data types = everything.
9. In the Two-wire Mode field, press the + button to display Faux Devices at Test Settings, Enter.
10. Leave the default settings in the Clock Time and Devices File fields.
11. Check the number that displays in the Faux Devices field. If it shows 0, press the ò button to move to the Two-wire Read Devices field where Extract displays. 
12. Press the Enter button. The controller extracts the devices, and then shows a number in the Faux Devices field.
13. Turn the dial to the RUN position.
14. For Fundamentals Certification class, clear out programming at Advanced, Erase Program.
