Master Valve Override (MVO) Matrix

Updated January 26, 2026 2 min read

A Master Valve Override (MVO) can be started in three places:

  1. On weathertrak.net, go to the Smart Irrigation tab and go to Controller List page. Select the controller you want to send an MVO to, click on the Advanced drop-down in the top right-hand corner, select <Scheduled Task - MV Override>, fill out as desired, and send.
  2. On weathertrak.net, mouse over the Smart Irrigation tab and click on Manage Controller. Go to the controller you want to send an MVO to. Click on <Edit> next to "MV Override" at the top, fill out the dates and times, and send.
  3. On the controller, press Manual Test and the +/- buttons until you reach the Manual : 07 screen. (For 8.x controllers, the controller must be unlocked/placed in Maintenance Mode beforehand.)

Under Optiflow > Configure or Smart Irrigation > Program > Setup, you should see settings for your mainlines.

  • If your POC is configured so that Master Valve Override is included, all master valves will be included in the MVO.
  • If your POC is configured so that Master Valve Override is excluded, that master valve will be left out of the MVO.

If an MVO is scheduled, it can be found under Rain Pause on the controller. Navigate to the Pause : 03 screen using the +/- buttons and you should see something like "T2          MV-Override" and its status (Active, Expired, etc.) underneath.

During an MVO:

  • Controllers with a Normally Closed (NC) Master Valve will display the Master Valves included in the override on the Run screen (ex. MV1) next to MVO.
  • Controllers with a Normally Open (NO) Master Valve will display MVO.
  • Controllers with a Normally Open (NO) Master Valve and a Mainline Break alert will display the NO Master Valve(s) on the screen (ex. MV1) and, in 7.8+/8.4+, prevent the MVO.
