Common causes
- Issue related to the solenoid or zone wire.
- Solenoid may have failed due to a low continuity short.
- Solenoid leads could be touching.
- Zone wire may be shorted to the common wire.
What happens now? From the alert message:
- biCoder serial number: E188171.
- Zone 12 has a solenoid short preventing operation.
- Irrigation for zone 12 will not run.
- Before troubleshooting:
- This alert ONLY applies to solenoid side of the biCoder, not the two wire path.
Troubleshooting
- Replace the solenoid or DBR/Y6 splices if needed.
- Cap off any unused biCoder outputs or extra wires going to a solenoid to prevent shorts.
- If the zone wire is shorted, use traditional wire repair tools to isolate the short.
